In good condition, showing normal signs of its age. Some scuffing around edges. Extra love shown with a hand repair on one end. We have a second stair runner, identical to the first, in lesser condition. Inquire if interested.

For wood: Dust regularly with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners—natural wax or a simple balm can help nourish the finish. Most of our wooden pieces have been professionally treated for woodworm; however, you may notice small holes as signs of past exposure. These do not affect the integrity of the piece and are part of its story.

For metal: Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust. A touch of vinegar or lemon can help reduce tarnish, but we often prefer to leave the natural patina untouched.

For ceramic: Clean with mild soap and water. Avoid dishwashers, and never soak antique glaze or terracotta for extended periods.

As with all antiques, embrace imperfections—they are part of what makes each piece one-of-a-kind.

Taxes and Duties

As these items are currently in the U.S. and shipped from the U.S., they are not subject to duties or tariffs. Purchases may be subject to local sales tax.

All sales are considered final. Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of antique items, we do not offer returns or exchanges unless an item arrives damaged or materially different than described.

All of our pieces are genuine antiques, sourced in France and often well over 100 years old. We assess condition in the context of age, craftsmanship, and continued usability. Signs of wear are part of their story and contribute to their unique charm.

Excellent

An antique in superb condition given its age. Minimal surface wear. Structurally sound with no repairs needed. Patina may be present but only adds to its character.

Very Good

Light wear consistent with age and gentle use. May include minor surface marks, small scuffs, or subtle finish variation. Solid and stable, with no major damage or repair.

Good

Noticeable signs of age and use, such as scratches, worn edges, or small losses to finish or decorative elements. Structurally sound but may show age-related movement or minor old repairs.

Worn

Honest wear from decades (or centuries) of use. Includes more visible marks, small cracks, or old restorations. Still functional, but with imperfections that reflect its long history.

Timeworn

Well-loved with significant visible wear. May include larger cracks, faded finishes, or structural looseness. Best suited as a decorative piece unless restoration is intended.
